THe restaurant was so full and had a long wait so we opted to get takeout and eat outside. Great decision. Good service and the food was very good too.

We sit outside. It wasn't too crowded, the music was really good, great view of the river, the weather was perfect and food was really good.
We have not been able to eat at kingfish for months and my husband and I always love the cod sandwich or the catfish platter. My husband was in ecstasy when we ordered and ate the catfish. Our waiter was very attentive and the food was exceptional!
Very unorganized opening back up from the covid-19....we couldn't even get a drink while waiting a HOUR for a table. Went to the bartender and she said she couldn't serve anyone from the bar so we had to find a server. We found a server and she acted like she was too busy to help us get a drink....we went back inside just to find the bartender serving a customer but wouldn't help us???!!? Poor customer service!!! Will NEVER dine there again but I have 2 more coupons so I will probably only do carryout and never go back after that

A few years ago I had become disappointed in Kingfish products, however, I gave th3m another shot two years ago and my old Kingfish was back with tasty food, best rolled oysters in town, nice portions and a friendly staff. It is my go to spot for good fish.
Waitress was helpful in pointing out menu choices (broil vs. fried) that I didn't realize were available. Nice touch to bring hush puppies (prepared perfectly) while we were waiting. Slaw was good, like carrots in slaw; fries were good.
Got the fish box for 2 and it was very good. Big portions and so good. We ate outside and enjoyed the music very much. Also liked the happy hour. Thank you kingfish
Suggest you check your carry out order before you leave. We paid for an extra order of hush puppies, and did not get any. None with the meals, and no extra order. Otherwise, I would rate them excellent. Great food at a great price.
I did carryout. May be due to covid rules but staff was very flustered. Orders were wrong, including mine. I ordered extra hush puppies but did not get them and had to go back in. Cashier stated more than once she was just going to walk out.

The river view was nice, the hush puppies were good, and our server Dave was great. The food left much to be desired. For a seafood place both my wife and I figured the "Alaskan" crab legs would be a good choice, but what came out were snow crab legs. Now I've had crab legs at many restaurants and they usually come out steaming hot. These came out slightly warmer than ambient restaurant temperature. The other thing was that they were made to look fancy by putting all this garnish and seasoning on them. Good crab legs don't need anything but butter - which brings me to my last disappointment with the meal. The butter was terrible. It must have been low quality, old, or a mixture of some type of oil and something else - ended up not even using it. We won't be going back. For the cost of the meal, the value was lacking.
Absolutely everything was overcooked. The lobster was rubbery (cooked to long) and had no flavor, the baked potatoes were obviously made way ahead of time and overdone, the steak that we ordered in Meduim came out well done and it was a very thing poor cut of meat. The carrots were soft and over done as well. Very disappointed. We spent over $100 on this aggravation.

The blackened Tilapia which comes with rice and the order of green beans were great. French fries were okay. However, the broiled cod seems to be a little on the dry side... not very moist like it used to be in the past.. The service was excellent.

We always go to the take out register to order and they are always great as well as the food. When it's warm outside, we sit down by the Ohio River on the bench and enjoy whatever band is playing.

It was a carryout order I managed to get in and out quickly with a long line behind me, just in time.
It seemed to take overly long for everything this evening from being acknowledged by our server, drinks and food arriving, bill to appear and return of credit card.
We enjoyed nice big pieces of fish served piping hot. The hush puppies were tasty and warm. The slaw is always great!
Was good but not as good as usual. Much smaller pieces of fish. Much thinner. My husband had a tough area in his and mine was mushy. Hush puppies and fries were delicious. When you pay the amt. they charge for a cod sandwich, you expect it to be better.

restaurant was packed for saturday night. definitely needed more servers. most of the ones working were rushing around like crazy and working really hard. our lady unfortunately wasn't. you could tell she wasn't happy. only smiled when she presented check. too bad she wasn't part of the team during a crisis period.
Ordered fish box for two and ask for rye bread, cocktail sauce, ketchup. Got home no bread, cocktail sauce or ketchup. Called them to complain just said they were sorry. No compensation for their mix up!

Normally fish is very moist, however, this time it was very dry. Onion rings were just right as was my rolled oyster. We experienced very dry fish a few years ago and stopped eating her. We gave it another try and up until now had always been very p,eased.

They are fairly inexpensive, the food is consistently good and there is a good selection and the river view is so nice

Baked potatoes were cold and waitress offered to give us new ones when we were half through our meal. She offered 1 dessert with ice cream for 2 of us to share for the baked potatoes. There was no ice cream and the dessert was very small.

I don't know if the waiter was new or overwhelmed, but diners were walking out before food was brought due to the amount of time waiting. Each time the server came by, which wasn't often, he would forget something. After over 30 minutes of sitting there, he finally came over to ask what we wanted to drink. Out drinks came over 30 minutes later, without straws. It took another 30 minutes to get straws, until I finally went to the hostess stand myself to get them. A lengthy time later, he finally came to take our order, but our food didn't come for quite some time later, and it was horrible. When we asked for the check, he came back over 30 minutes later and it was completely incorrect.

My husbands 82 birthday we enjoyed the service and food very much.
I called in my order. To be picked up so I could eat on the veranda and listen to the music. The carry out lady told me it would be ready in 10 minutes. It took me 10+ minutes to complete my drive to Kingfish. My food was NOT ready. The clerk told me they were working on my order and I should go ahead and pay. I paid and waited another 10 minutes. She pulled a box from the window and tried to pass it off as my order. She threw (No exaggeration) the box back up into the window. Another 10+ minutes passed and she pulled the SAME box out of the window and a side order of fries and declared this to be my order. I asked her where my coleslaw was? She wen into the back and came out with a small coleslaw. with a barely audible sorry I finally went to the veranda. Several people received their orders that didn't even had the 10 minute head start of calling in the order.

We called in our order prior to arrival. We picked up our order at the Carry-Out. We ate outdoors. On Friday evenings Kingfish has a BAND. We listened to 3-4 songs while we ate. The Band was very good. The terrace where we ate was clean & comfortable.

They have a great deck outside for outside dining with cover if it rains. Plus live music at times. Great tasty food too.Enjoy the friendly service and atmosphere. Great place for a date and the kids too.

We enjoyed our food. We arrived on a Saturday approximately 2:00 pm and our service was very slow and we did not leave until after 4:00 pm. There was just two people in our party.

Normally, our food is at least "ok." Last night's meal was not good at all. There was less than half of the amount of fish we normally receive. The fish was swimming in oil in the container. It was cold. Half of the order was undercooked.

The wasa total of 12 in our party, celebrating parents Aniversery. We did have separate checks, 3 on our check. Service was good, waitress did a good job to keep up with us.

This was a carry out. We ate outside at the restaurant a few weeks ago and the waiter was rude. He was stressed out and unprofessional. We like the food. Have been going there since I was a kid. We won't give up on Kingfish. We know it's hard to get good help.

Buffet was disappointing--a seafood restaurant with only fish on a buffet. The fish was good but were are the scrimp, scallops, frog legs, clams, etc? The chicken tenders were ok but no other seafood.

Food was good, plentiful and reasonably priced. However, loud football watching guests in the nearby attached bar destroyed a quiet dinner atmosphere.

Baked potato served stone cold. Asked for dressing on the side and was served a salad drenched with salad dressing. Could not eat the salad. Took most of my dinner home so that I could heat it up.

There was an approximate 15 minute wait yet the restaurant was half empty. We said we would like a table by the window for a view of the water. We were told after waiting already that it would be another 15 minutes or so for a table by a window yet there were several empty. We said anything would be ok. Our server did a great job and the food came out fairly quickly and was hot and tasted good. While we were eating, we saw a container of salad dressing fall off a sever's tray and splatter across the carpet. No one ever cleaned it up, but instead continued to step over it. When the group being served was finished, they then stepped in the spilled dressing. Appears to be a lack of good management to be staffed properly, especially on a Saturday night, and to ensure proper cleaning procedures. The restaurant could use a renovation to make it more modern and brighten the atmosphere.

It was a beautiful day so we chose to eat outside facing the Ohio River. The outside seating is good and several choices of being in the open or under roof. First time that we had been there when it wasn't raining or extremely hot or chilly.

We had to begin for dring refill ALL WHILE WAITING FOR OUR FOOD TO BE SERVED. About 5:15 asked abour our order At around 5:40 we were getting ready to just get up and leave but the servers said the food would be right out. No eplanation ws given as to why the over 1 hour delay was. The food was not hot so I can only assume it had been sitting in the kitchen for most of that time. We did have 3 different server during the process.. We had lunch there about 3 weeks ago and had the same type experience. We thought it was "just of those days" then but obviously it is an on going occurance. We are probably done with King Fish for quite awhile.

No one came to our table for over 20 mins after we'd been seated. I had to go find the hosts. Server was rude if we asked for anything. We had not been to this location for 2 years because of bad service last 4 times we were there. We will definitely be going back to the Jeffersonville Indiana location again. We decided to give River Road a try again because we really wanted to spend our money in Louisville on the Kentucky side however we will simply go back to Jeffersonville. This is especially disappointing for us because my husband was born and raised in Louisville and has been going to Kingfish for 50 years.

There were tons of empty tables but apparently not enough people scheduled to work so there was a waiting room full of people looking at empty tables that no one was sitting out.

Our coconut shrimp were over cooked and our onion rings were cold. Our server was okay... not nice, but not mean.

When I go to Kingfish on the River, I feel like I am on vacation. The food is great and there is so much to do.After we ate, we sat on a swing and watched to boats on the River and listened to the bands play and sing music. Then we all played corn hole. I love Kingfish!!

KingFish is an elegant casual atmosphere. It is on the Ohio River so you can have river view seating inside. There are several areas outside for dining also. It was a chilly rainy day so we didn't get to enjoy the outside dining. The food was good, plentiful, and very reasonable. We'll go back again if in the area.

Our waitress was very attentive, and the food was mostly good. We got a seafood platter and the crab cake was not at all good. Everything else was delicious. We did not receive any hushpuppies, however, and that is one of my favorite things. my husband ordered a rolled oyster, and it was brought with the meal. Also it was gummy in the middle. The restaurant was extremely busy. The Hostess was going nuts. They were expecting a tour bus and trying to get ready for it also. Was seated right away. Our waitress had a great personality. I like that.

The waitress refilled one of our party's drink but never asked anyone else if we would like refills. She also forgot to bring our coleslaw with our meal. The coleslaw had obviously just been made because it tasted like cabbage. It was not creamy or sweet and the flavors obviously had not had time to mesh.

Service was poor. Told the hostess it was our first visit and expected to be given an overview of the different areas inside and out of the restaurant, but did not. Paid $17 each for shrimp sampler plates that were about the same size as our children's kids meals. We found the food to be overly priced for what we received. On a positive note, the outdoor seating is great with river views, there was a live band and outdoor dance floor and there is children's play area. I would not go again for the food, but might for a drink outside and to listen to music.

We sat for 10-15 minutes and my husband had to go tell the hostess no one had come to our table. Finally she came and we had very bad service. I don't believe there were enough servers and they sent us one from another area. I ordered an oyster and fried green tomatoes for appetizers. The oyster was under cooked and very doughy. The green tomatoes were very greasy. But, our whitefish dinners were delicious. I was disappointed because it was Fathers Day and I wanted my husband to enjoy his dinner. Maybe next time.

We have a long history of going to Kingfish going back to when they were a small one room restaurant further up the river when are parents would dock our sailboat and get several fish boxes for two. It is tradition we will keep.
We love the fried green tomatoes and they have them all year long...however, I enjoy changing my choices each time in order to sample a lot of different tastes...always a pleasure to dine at Kingfish!

We always enjoy going to the KingFish in Jeffersonville, IN. The staff always go above what you expect. Our server tonight was absolutely amazing, she was very nice and professional. All the staff members were very friendly and would stop and talk to our 7 month old daughter. We will definitely be back!

We were seated quickly, our server polite and courteous. He did a wonderful job.
For the time of the evening, the service was slow. In addition, the Hushpuppies were not hot as would be expected if they were fresh. I had ordered a bowl of Clam Chowder and Buffalo Fries, and my party was almost done with their meal before I got my fries.

Wanted to eat outside but the music was TOO LOUD. Do your customers really want music played so loud? I doubt that they do.

Other patrons were in and out before we even got food. People two booths down from us waited a long time and had their meal comped, plus took home to go meals. The manager never even came to apologize. We waited at least 45 minutes. The food wasn't really that good when it came out.
The wait for our food was very long. Server was very nice but it took at least 30 minutes or longer to get our food.
Our appetizer was served cold and uncooked. Our chicken fingers were prepared in the wrong batter.

when we told waitress we had coupon service almost stopped. Two tables that came in after got foor immediately we waited over 35 min.

The food and service is always good at this restaurant but the young man that waited on us was so caring that I stopped on the way out and told the manenger how kind he had been.

My dad loves Kingfish. He moved to Florida a few years ago and when he comes home Kingfish is where I take him.
Waited on part of the food order for over a hour sever said meal was covered then said no the manager said would just take a 1.00 off worse service I've seen in years

We have been patrons of Kingfish Restaurant for more than 50 years and have been somewhat disappointed lately in the quality of some of our favorite foods; rolled oysters especially, and that a few other things that have changed about the menu, especially the prices.
I would have rated the food at 5 if the rolled oyster had not been over crisped where there were apparently air holes in the dough.
Good place to relax by the river. Will go back.

only issue was the resturant was very cold ac set way too low almost everone in it were complaining about the temperature.. Management refused to do anything about this. saying would get woarmer once the sun came back out ( was raining while there)

The food was fantastic and we had a party of 12, the service was great. We had to wait for 1/2 hour to be seated but with no reservation and the group of 12 it wasn't bad.
We always get great service when we go to King Fish on River Rd. Our favorite server/bar tender always treats us like a friend and she remembers what we like to drink.
our waitress was good however she had too many tables and was falling behind. had to ask for drink refill and for coctail sause to go with the shrimp and had to ask a second time for that. overall the food was good but not excellent. too much dressing on the salad.

Kingfish was one of the few restaurants that didn't specify "dinner only". I prefer eating my main meal for lunch. Wish others would offer this choice. When I go out for dinner, I choose a place that offered a good lunch.

This was our best experience at KingFish in the past several years. They now have servers who want to wait on you and are pleasant!
Food was excellent. However, our waiter was having a very bad day. He did not bring us the appetizer we ordered, forgot to bring sauce, tried to give us someone else's credit card and tried to bill us for the apetizer we never received.
There was no more clam chowder, but our server was great about it! We ate outside and the fish cooled off very quickly, but that's our fault. Princess was our server and we will ask for her from now on, she was fantastic. We felt like we were with an old friend!

Although the service was good, the last two times we have eaten at this particular Kingfish, our server, who has not been the same person, has been very slow and not very attentive. Service is much better at the Jeffersonville location.

We have always enjoyed the Kingfish at upper river road in Louisville, Ky been going there for over 45years. We have went to other Kingfish Rest. around closer but not as good of food taste as the one we choosr to go to.

The whitefish wasn't as good as usual. One of our pieces was undercooked. We also had a build your own combination and the server told us we could mix and match broiled and fried items but didn't mention the difference in price. We chose broiled scallops and we were charged an additional $1. They were tender and tasty, but were not warm. Also it's nice that they bring you hushpuppies, but they are very oily. My daugther said it would be nice to have some type of sauce with them. we thought apple butter might be good, but they would have to be less oily first.

How can you live in louisville and know about Kingfish? The outdoor activities you added are very nice. The only issue is that several familes were sitting next to us out on the patio having their own little reunion. They were very loud, used foul language and let their kids run wild. Several folks asked to be moved. We just used them as fodder for conversation. It would be nice to put these groups off by themselves as you could hardly carry on a conversation.
The Ohio river overlook is worth the price of the meal. The server we had was good but he was spread around too many tables. Fortunately we were not in a big rush because the weather was great and the outdoor seating is good. If he had a couple less tables it would have been better. He obviously was experienced and was doing as well as could be expected counsidering the amount of people he was serving.

I have been dining at King Fish restaurants since the 70's and have always loved the food. We sat outside on a beautiful day. Only negative comment would be that the dinner plates were not removed. I realize our server may have had tables inside and otherwise did a perfect job.
Service was great! The waiter I had was on the ball, super friendly, and handled all requests promptly. However having not been to the restuarant in years my favorite dish was gone. I was a little upset with the food I ordered. The batter on the fried foods was lacking. Hushpuppies were still amazing. Over on a 1 - 10 scale I'd put my experience on a 6.5

Kingfish has been our favorite restaurant for many years. We love the food and we enjoy watching the River. We have never had a bad meal there. The restaurant.com certificates allow us to get an appetizer and dessert which we never get at regular price. It's a great restaurant, and we hope it is around for a very long time!!!!!

This is the nicest of the 4 Kingfish restaurants I've eaten at, as far as the ambiance is concerned. The food is ok but my food was just lukewarm, not hot at all. I ate it anyway but it would have been better hot. The waitress was super nice!
Life long customer of Kingfish, used to go there as a child with my parents.. now I take my kids there.. 3 generations of customers, our family loves Kingfish!
Haveonly good to say about Kingfish. Have gone there all my life. Don't understand the benefit of Restaurant.com, though. Thought we were getting $20 worth of food for the $10 we paid. Disappointed and cannot see the point of using Restaurant.com. Have one more to use and will not buy anymore since there is absolutely no savings involved that I can see.

I have eaten at Kingfish about 4 times in the last year and it seems the food progressively got worse. I had the Boston Schrod fish basket with baked potato (not french fries) and it just wasn't good.
The service was terrible,we eat out often and I can honestly say that last nights service was the worst we have ever had
We love it there, especially when they have the different bands playing on the weekends. I hope they will always have them.
The portions have gotten so small. We use to get big pieces of fish and lots of fries. I would rather go else where and get more for the money and quality of food.

Pretty enjoyable experience except that the Crab Cakes looked like the grease needed to be changed in the fryer. They were a little dark. Other that that, everything was fine.

I have live in the area for 50+ yrs. I know about Kingfish. Just haven't been for 20 yr or so. Restaurant.com started me going again. (Thanks) I would go to more places but most have a $35 min. and for 2 people just to much food. I was once fat I won't go to a place to stuff myself.We go to Kingfish because they have $20 min. for 2 people that is reasonable. Might want to lower min on some rest..I think they would get more bus...

My sister food was great mind on the other hand the salmon I sent back and the blackend shrimp was floating in grease took 2 napkins to just get the grease off my plate the scollops was great that is what replaced my salmon
We noticed a bit of decline in food quality, but the restaurant is still a good value for seafood in a land-locked state. Service was very good. One thing we noticed is that the restaurant was not as crowded as usual for a Friday night, and the other thing is that the carpet needs replacing due to soiling.
