I genuinely can’t think of enough good things to say about this experience. We had 2 people waiting on us, Bob and Christina, and thanks to them it was hands down the best service I have ever received at a restaurant! They noticed I wasn’t particularly drinking my wine and brought out a different glass (complimentary) based off what I like and it was the perfect recommendation. The scallops and the sauce that accompanied them were absolutely delicious, as well as the surf & turf. The steak was cooked to perfection! Also the alligator shaped butter for our table bread (which was extremely addicting) was such a cute touch. To top the night off, Bob and Christina brought out 6 mini complimentary desserts for us (not pictured... they disappeared fast). I will absolutely be back for the food and will specifically ask to be seated at one of Bob and/or Christina’s tables!
Several of the dishes are so delicious we return to enjoy them. The platter of tender lamb, rice and sweet apple mixture is my husband’s favorite. The dumplings are mine. The spiced tea is delicious.
We discovered Afghan cuisine at Panjshir many years ago. We love the delicious flavors especially lamb with apples platter and the lamb with pumpkin. The dumplings are another favorite. The tea with cardomon is an interesting afphan beverage.
The best Afghan food in the DC area! Wonderful aromatic delights. Highly recommend the bulanee kachalu, aushak, grilled meats, zardak, and gosh-e-feel. Every bite is scrumptious and the new dining room is beautiful. Well worth the trip!
We always get the vegetarian combo of three items--in our case, pumpkin, spinach, and eggplant. It comes with flavorful rice. We're not vegetarians but we love this dish. We shared a bottle of Josh Cabernet that was very nice. Others had Montoo, chicken kabob, and lamb kabob. The chicken kabob was blah, but the others enjoyed the lamb kabob and Montoo. Desserts were a hit--gosh-e-feel, baklava, and chocolate firnee. Their new location is as small as the old one but much nicer in ambience.
Very pleasant helpful server.
The food is delicious and the service is good. I was disappointed that they "raised their prices" in their new location - prices which were already high for the quantities of food provided. Although I will definitely return - It will be a lot less often. It would help if they provided Restaurant.com certificates for more than $5.00 more often.
Fast and courteous service; food was great. Because we were the only ones in the restaurant for the first half, the server kind of "hovered" nearby but was very nice.
Food and service was fantastic.
Good food. Wasn't sure which entree to get and took the server's recommendation. The Quabili Palow was great! Tender lamb with rice and seasoning. My wife liked her Banjan Chalow, which was eggplant. Not a fancy place, but who needs fancy when the food is this good!
Their soup is delicious as are all their vegetarian dishes.
Two people ordered Kabobs, I ordered Quorum (?)Kalal- a Lamb dish, lamb portion was Small.
Nice place, attentive staff
Small portion dinner size food even less than lunch size.
Pleasant waitress sunday nice day to go .didnt have to wait for service.
The flavors are outstanding. Try the spinach;no,really, try the spinach.
Long wait in empty restrsurant begore server arrived. Wrong cocktsil. Did not understand menu enogh to describe .
The food was exceptionally delicious.
The server/owner was very inattentive from the beginning. He spent most of my time in the restaurant in the back areas/kitchen and not in the dining area. I had to ask for more water and then wait until he had finished his phone call and mail check before he brought my water. Then he overcharged me for my food, which I caught and asked to be corrected. He did so but not without complaining to me that his new menu did not correctly reflect the right price! What am I supposed to do about that? The last straw was he short changed me which I corrected by leaving him a lousy tip. Will DEFINITELY NOT RETURN!! This restaurant was EMPTY for lunch rush, which comes as no surprise.
Every time I have been there I feel that they are happy to have me as a guest.Along with great food that makes me go back.
Kabab E Murgh was very good -- chicken was a little overcooked.
The Eggs Benedict Was OverCooked.
The waiter did not refill our drink glasses. In fact, he disappeared for a large part of the meal. I notified the restaurant when I made the restaurant that it was a 94th birthday celebration. we had to remind them at the end of the meal. he forgot to take the discount off our bill for the coupon I gave him.
Wonderful! Waiting all day for it!
Wonderful service. This was the first time for us at this restaurant, and the waitress kindly explained to us the various Afghan dishes, then kept checking back with us to find out if we were enjoying our food.
Very unfrendly, both of us felt very uncomfortable, unwelcomed. Staff, seemed like owners were very cold. We always wanted to try this resturant, but this was a terrible experience. We dine out very frequently - they lost potential customers, however, clearly they do not care. Food was good, but not for the price or the small portions. we will not go again or recommend
Panjshir is a winter time favorite. It's cozy, quiet and serves delicious, fresh food. My only complaint about using the restaurant.com certificate was that we didn't get the free salad which usually accompanies each meal (we ordered one entree and 3 appetizers/side order, which was my "entree" + 2 glasses of wine). The waiter/owner said they don't serve the salad with a certificate. Too bad. Feel that the extra perk would make returning customers of "first timers."
There are many good options for vegetarians. The only comment we could make about the food is that many dishes come with tomato sauce so they may start with different basic ingredients but they taste very similar. The tomato sauce masks the flavor of the main ingredient--my husband had lamb and it came in a tomato sauce along with turnips also in a tomato sauce, the two were separated by a mound of rice but because of the similar sauces the two dishes tasted similar.
The price is little overprice for the quality of the food. The servers look like just do the job as server, did not seem to try to do extra service to make the customer satisfied in their experience there.
We've been eating here for 30 years and the quality has been consistently high. We take visitors here and they love it.
atmosphere, service and food were all great!
We got an impression that the restaunt.com does not pay the certificate amount to the restaurant owner. We ultimately ended up paying more than what we would otherwise.Food quality was not at all matching the price.
The food tasted good, and the menu included a very wide selection for vegetarians.
not take out allowed
food has been consistently wonderful
