I’m disappointed by the treatment I witnessed at this establishment. While Amedes was quietly working at the coffee shop, a staff member threatened to call the police because she hadn’t made a purchase quickly enough. What stood out was that others were seated without having ordered—yet she was the only one singled out and asked to leave. It’s hard not to wonder whether racial bias played a role in the interaction. I strongly recommend that management invest in quarterly customer service and bias-awareness training for their team. A welcoming environment should never be conditional. Incidents like this send the wrong message about who is considered “acceptable” here.
