Other patrons were loud for a small intimate setting
Although we were told the filet was fresh cut today, it was not tender. The server ordered another and it was not much better. I have had other filets recently and there was no comparison to the quality I was expecting. I must admit that the crab cake was exceptional. The fish (tilapia) my wife had was very enjoyable. The atmosphere was very nice and clean.

The onion soup was as good as I remembered from years ago. The meal itself was Ok. Reason for this the meal could have been hotter and the prime rib was not very flavorful. Lastly I got two different sodas first was a Sprite which tasted weird and had something floating in it. I told the server and asked if I could exchange for ginger ale. He did this without a problem. When the ginger ale came out it also had black floaters. He apologized and said he thinks it is the machine. I then ordered decaf coffee. This was lukewarm. I had three cups but had to ask for a refill all three times and the last cup had grounds floating in it. He did however fill my water glass three times without me asking for it.
There was a very loud party going on in snother room which i believe was family. Our food was good but took very long to prepare.
We both ordered the filet mignon. The dinners were prepared to perfection. The restaurant staff were very pleasant and attentive. The restaurant also is fortunate to have lovely helpful neighbors.

Food is always great. It is prepared when ordered and served hot. Service by Heather is always excellent. She has become on of the family. Recommend the tavern for any reason at all. Great experience always.

The calamari steak and coconut shrimp are excellent. Beautiful house salads. Homemade marinara sauce is very good. The main courses were very good- prime rib, eggplant parmesan. Tasty mixed drinks. Friendly and attentive staff.
We have eaten at Suburban in the past and found the food this time below the quality we’ve enjoyed in the past. We ordered Veal Oscar and the food was not very hot when we were served. The thinly sliced veal was dry, the baked potato appeared old, and the asparagus was limp. The restaurant was very empty on a Friday night compared to past visits. We were very disappointed.
I ordered veal which I could not chew and was given the option to have another portion made which I chose but it was the same texture. The othner aspects of the meal were good includong the soup and the appetizer. The last time we came here the service was poor and the soup cold. After tonight we will never go back.
Fine dining, yet casual. Food was well prepared with good presentation. Server was very attentive and pleasant. There were no other patrons while we were there (5-6 PM on a Thursday) which I thought was a bit curious, but otherwise I have to give it a big thumbs up.
There was only 3 tables in the place, waiting 30 minutes for our salad seemed long. We ordered steaks, ordered med rare, came out med well.
Food was hot and prepared fresh. Waitress is fantastic and it has become a regular eating place for us.

Atmosphere was great. Heather our waitress made us feel like we known her forever. We both had the Filet Mignon and it was out of this world. It was one of the best I have had in a long time.

We were never told the specials of the evening, as all,other diners were told. I have eaten there several times before, and it appears that the quality of the food was not as good as previously.

The salmon is always fresh and incredible spices. The shrimp scampi is very tasty. The salad is very fresh and has very crisp vegetables. The hot side vegetables are excellent.

It was good. Service was a bit slow, but that's more expected at a restaurant like this. Fancy. Not rushed. It's a great place for a date night. Or even a double date. But it is a small place, not intended for large parties.

We had Chesapeake Chicken. Chicken breast was very good, tender. The crab cake on top seemed a bit 'fishy', we did not eat the crab. It tasted old?
The atmosphere was cozy and inviting, our meals were delicious, our server was attentive and the owner even provided us a tour of the upper level cigar lounge with a historical narrative! Very delightful experience??

We love to come here for the friendly service and great food. They are willing to work with you if you would like your food prepared a certain way - we appreciate that!
Prices are expensive and quality of ingredients used is poor. Seafood dish includes small eraser top sized rubbery scallops instead of regular sized scallop.Crab cakes are made with all back fin crab shredded crab meat; no pieces of regular crab meat. Waitress tells all customers that whatever item discussing is the best and her favorite.

One minor negative was the slight smell of smoke from the cigar lounge from the floor above - some people might be sensitive to that.
Wait time from the server (who appeared to be busy)was slow. Others who came in after use were finished before us. The food was average with the exception of the string beans which were not good at all.in addition, there was an odor which seemed to be cigar smoke.

The serving staff was friendly but made an error on one dish. The owner knew that I was interested in the outcome of a football game, came over to our table and told me the final score. It is usually not that noisy but it was noisier than usual the night of our visit.

Prime Rib tasted like spoiled meat. Not edible. Baked potato tasted like it was boiled. Salmon was hard around the edges. Owner was willing to comp the Prime Rib meal but had to eat it right then and there. Kept repeating that it wasn't fair to him.
Veal was outstanding! So was the chicken! The chef (Gary) was gracious and made a point to welcome us.
The decor is very nice, the waitress was attentive, and the food was good. I got to sit next to the warm glowing stove whick made it even better.

Crab cakes were all lump crab with no filler- a real plus. Vegetables were crisp. Chicken parm was tender with tasty marinara sauce. Fresh cut french fries offered.

Food and service were quite good, but a party of more than 20 loud guys invaded the small and otherwise cozy dining area, after first being upstairs for an hour or two of drinks. We told our server that Chuckie-Cheeses would have been a more subdued and peaceful atmosphere.
The food was great, the only problem it was not hot, we did let the server know and she relayed it to the Chef. Other then that it was great I'm sure we will be back!

I said neutral because the food was great, but we had a few problems with the billing, there were 3 of us & the waitress gave us a bill for a 4 meals, the extra was a completely different entree, so we told her & she credited it & reduced the tip, then when I checked my credit card charge the next day, it was 25.00 more than what I signed for, so I called the manager & he did issue a credit on my card. Also, they charge .50 a person for sour cream, which she didn't mention when we ordered (I wouldn't complain if she just told us). I wouldn't have complained if just 1 of these things happened, but after all of them, I don't think the waitress gave very good service. MAYBE we will go there again.

I had Veal Francese and my companion had Crusted Salmon. My Fracese did not have a lot of taste and the Salmon portion was quite small. We enjoy the restaurant but......

My wife and I felt very much at home. We arrived before they opened for the afternoon, but were welcome to stay and enjoy a beverage at their bar. The owners introduced themselves to us as well and we had an enjoyable conversation. Even one of the patrons took part in a discussion with us. It was just a very comfortable and enjoyable afternoon. It was smelled like smoke in the dining room for the first part of our visit. Is that because the bar is a smoking area? Also, my brother ordered a steak that was to be prepared medium- well and it was rare. It was sent back but when it came back it was well done. overall, The food was good and so was the service.
I used to dine at the Suburban Tavern when I was growing up back in the 60's. Eating there tonight brought back memories.

I was hungry for seafood, but the dish contained shell fish, which I don't like. They specially made the dish the way I wanted it - Fabulous!!!

Suburban Tavern is an unpretentious restaurant where the food and service are always excellent.
Service was mediocre at best. Party of 4 - they added 20% gratuity and included beverages in the total.

most of our meals were good but prime rib had to be sent back twice once for overcooked and then undercooked. Service was average. Prices of food are high for the type of restaurant itis.
Hubby had excellent filet. I always enjoy the shrimp garlique. Heather did a great job as usual.

Would not recommend Heather as a server. She didn't go over the specials for the evening, didn't ask how our meal was, didn't offer to refill our drinks and then left us sitting for 10 minutes waiting for the bill!

We had wings here on a previous visit and wanted to come back to try some of the other menu items. The service was very good even thought they did have the majority of the dining area reserved for a party.
This restaurant has a cozy atmosphere.The food is delicious.Anything I tried was very good.My favortie..the Cigars appetizer and the Shrimp Garlique over rice.And the House Dressing for the salad...mmmmmmmm !

I ordered a medium-rare, Cuban rib-eye steak (an unusual menu item) that was perfectly cooked and delicious; kudos to the chef! Our waitress was very attentive and efficient.
