I really wanted to like this place. When I got there I was so thrilled that it was the quintessential “dive bar” I had seen pictures of the pizza on Google and I thought it looked pretty good so I drove 40 minutes out to Garner to try the pizza. An hour and 15 minutes later our pizza came. I’m not kidding I waited an hour and 15 minutes with a four-year-old for pizza. It didn’t look anything like the pictures I had seen online it was flat there was hardly any crust it seem like there was no yeast in the crust that it had not risen. It was terrible and I was not given any reason for how long the pizza took. No apology or even explanation. There were only two other customers there when I ordered it. Even other customers commented saying “you haven’t gotten your pizza yet?”Very disappointing.

food was light today fries over seasoned and served with the intent to serve fresh less-seasoned fries due to over seasoned
Waited for a to go order and could hardly stand to wait inside because the music was blaring!! Had to yell to be heard.
This is by the far the friendliest place we have ever been. First the bartender/server/cook introduced herself and asked our names. Then the patrons introduced themselves. It is like one big family of buddies. We ended up staying three hours and playing pool with the regulars. (We never play pool and you do not have to be good to have a good time.) Best time we have had in a very, very long time. Except for the casualness of the building, it really reminded me of "Cheers" (the TV show)just not as upscale.
The White Oak Grill and Lounge is the typical real country dive. Dusty parking lot filled with trucks in front of a run down looking building. You enter to a room with two pool tables and a bar and a couple of tables to sit near the juke box playing country music. I ordered the quesadillas since I had to spend $10 to use the coupon. Most of the menu items were very inexpensive. The food took a while but it was obviously freshly cooked, and it was delicious and plenteous. (Maybe that means that many diners in this joint would not be ordering quesadillas...:-) I took some home and my wife agreed that it was great. I also had very freshly made potato salad that was great. The waitress./bartender was very nice and helpful. All in all it was a much better experience than I was anticipating. Goes to show never to judge a book by its cover. I plan to go back soon to try the very inexpensive burgers or grill cheese.

This place is not much to looknow at, but the people are phenomenal. Mary, who served us and everyone in the place was friendly and welcoming. It was like being at a neighbors house.
Food was wonderful and the people all seemed to know each other and included you into their conversation...it was fun.
